Birch is a fast-growing tree that thrives in many climates. It can reach maturity in just 20 years which is one reason is it so renewable.
These utensils replace plastic or bio-plastic (compostable) versions that can’t be recycled and are unlikely to ever make it to an industrial composter – very few regions in America have access to one.
This product will biodegrade if left alone or it can be tossed out in the yard waste bin where it will be treated like a wood product (a.k.a. a stick).
